#1 Set who can contact you to “My Friends”
Making sure you only communicate with recognised Snapchat users seldom is the first step in defending yourself from stalkers and rogue accounts. Making sure that only your pals may text, phone, or send you snaps is the main method to do this. You must go to Snapchat > Your Profile Picture > Cogwheel Icon to see your options for that.
Inside the Settings screen, scroll down and select Contact Me inside “Who can”.
On the next screen, select My Friends.
#2 Select the audience for your article.
If you often share tales, you may control who has access to them on your profile. You may limit who can access your tales by setting it to “My Friends” or making a special list of the people you want to see them. This will prevent your stories from being viewed by unauthorised individuals.
Go to Snapchat > Your Profile Picture > Cogwheel symbol to access your Snapchat settings and decide who may see your story.
Inside the Settings screen, scroll down and select View My Story inside “Who can”.
On the next screen, select My Friends to allow everyone from your Snapchat friend list to view your story.
If you wish to restrict some people in your friend list from seeing your story, you can do that by selecting the Custom option.
On the next screen, select the people you want to block from viewing your story and then tap on Block.
Your desired list of friends has been added to the audience for your article.
#3 Make Snapchat Memories accessible just to you.
In a different area of your profile called Memories, Snapchat allows you store a collection of all the snaps and stories you’ve sent or received. If you have saved a Memory from your narrative, it will then be accessible on your profile and, by default, everyone who has access to your story may view it.
You may configure your Memories to be accessible to you alone when you store them in order to ensure that no one else can access them. Go to Snapchat > Your Profile Picture > Cogwheel Icon to access your Snapchat settings.
Inside Settings, scroll down and select Memories.
On the next screen, turn on the Save to My Eyes Only by default toggle under “Save Destinations”.
In case you haven’t set up My Eyes Only, tap on Quick Setup on the next screen.
You will be asked to create and confirm a passcode to view your memories and private snaps. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete this setup.
Your Snapchat Memories will then have My Eyes Only activated.
#4 Make Snap Maps’ Ghost Mode available
Using Snap Maps, you can instantly let your friends know where you are so they may join you or be aware of your presence. Stop revealing your location with unauthorised Snapchat users if you believe you are being monitored. Go to Snapchat > Your Profile Picture > Cogwheel Icon to access your Snapchat settings.
Inside Settings, scroll down and select See My Location under “Who Can”.
On the next screen, turn on the Ghost Mode toggle.
No one on Snapchat will be able to view your current location or previous places thanks to this.
#5 Report a situation
The aforementioned Snapchat account privacy protection measures may help to some degree, but they cannot ensure your safety from prospective stalkers. You may report someone to Snapchat directly if you believe they are maliciously stalking you.
Open their profile from the My Friends area of your Snapchat account to report their account.
On the next screen, tap on the Bitmoji of the person you want to report.
When their profile appears, tap on the 3-dots button at the top right corner.
In the overflow menu, select Manage Friendship.
Now, tap on Report.
On the next screen, you select any reason why you want to report this person.
If you have a snap that you received from someone and you want to report this snap, you can do so by swiping up on the snap and selecting Report in the popup that appears at the bottom.
