What animals are rabbits related to?
Although rabbits and hares have long been thought to have rodent cousins (mice, rats, squirrels), a recent research has found that the long-eared hoppers are more closely linked to primates, the mammalian order that includes monkeys, apes, and humans.
The order Lagomorpha has long been used to classify rabbits and hares. However, zoologists classify Lagomorpha and the order Rodentia as sister groups in the Glires superorder since they share so many physical similarities with rodents.
