You must practise questions in large quantities to clear your understanding on any issue. Take your time to absorb the concepts by practising a large number of questions. In arithmetic, there is no such thing as oral revision; you must practise questions in order to retain them for a long time.
Perform Mental Calculations
As you become more familiar with diverse difficulties, reduce the use of a pen. Every competitive exam has at least 5-6 questions that do not require the use of a pen.
