Quordle – Everything You Need to Know ( Best 2022 )

by Mr. DJ

Quordle is a daily free-to-play word guessing game like Wordle. Players can consider this as a hard mode version of Wordle since they will need to solve 4 words consecutively in 9 tries.

Quordle - Everything You Need to Know ( Best 2022 )

What is Quordle?

  • Quordle is a somewhat intimidating version of Wordle.
  • Wordle gives players six attempts to guess a five-letter word each day.
  • But with Quordle you have to guess four different words, and have nine attempts to do so.
  • When you input your guess it will be entered into each board, so you are guessing all four words at the same time.
  • The display is the same as for Wordle – a green square means the correct letter is in the correct place, and a yellow square means the letter is right, but it’s in the wrong position.
  • A grey square means the letter is not in the answer at all.
  • Quordle was created in January, and now has more than 500,000 daily players.
  • Creator Freddie Meyer said: “I am so glad the world has been thoroughly cursed by Quordle and can’t wait to see how Quordle strategies evolve!”

Game History

Quordle is created by Freddie Meyer and prototyped by David Mah who are both fans of Wordle. Call them evil geniuses. The game was an off-shoot of the game Wordle but was inspired by Dordle. If Dordle lets the players solve 2 words with 7 tries, Quordle is the Reaper because you need to guess 4 words with 9 tries.

How can I play Quordle?

You can play Quordle online right here.

Quordle makes eliminating letters particularly important. For the best chance to win your first few guesses should all have different letters.

Once you have got one word correct letters will no longer be entered into that board, and you can focus more on the others.

To win you will need to make sure you have at least four guesses left at the end to enter each correct answer.

Helpfully, Quordle also has a practice mode, letting you get to grips with the game before attempting the daily challenge.

How Quordle Puzzles Are Different From Wordle

As said above the Quordle game challenges offers quadruple difficulty as compared with the Wordle daily Challenges. While playing the Quordle the player has to figure out four different five-letter words in the given tries. The player only gets nine chances to solve the puzzle. If not solved in nine tries, then you will lose your daily Quordle puzzle.

If you have already mastered Wordle and Dordle, then while playing Quordle. You only need to come up with a proper strategy to solve the daily challenge in just nine tries. Moreover, all of the rules of Wordle apply to Quordle, so there won’t be any difference in the rules, except the number of tries to solve the puzzle.

Quordle Game & Modes Explained

When you start solving Quordle, you will notice that the alphabets in the virtual keyboard contain four tiles with the same color code hints. Each tile on an alphabet represents the position of the alphabet in the mystery words. This is also a hint for finding the mystery word, and the user just has to understand the position of the alphabet.

Moreover, you already know that there are two game modes offered by Quordle. The first mode is for the Daily challenge. And the player can play the daily challenge once in 24 hours. The same daily puzzle is given to everyone in the world. Furthermore, the second mode is known as Practice Mode. In this mode, the player can play unlimited games to practice their strategies to win the daily Quordle challenge. Every time the player will get a different puzzle to practice on.

How To Play

Quordle has 4 general boxes with 9 rows each which corresponds to the number of tries players have. For each word input, the rows of each box will be filled. Words will stop appearing in other boxes once solved. Here is how to play Quordle:

  • Go to Quordle
  • On the top of the page, select between Daily or Practice Mode
    • Daily – word of the day which will be solved by all players
    • Practice Mode – random 5 letter words for practice

  • Type any 5-letter word and press Enter. Input word will appear on all 4 boxes. Color queues will appear which will serve as a hint/clue for your word.
    • Green/Blue(other devices) means the letter is in the right spot.
    • Yellow/Brown(other devices) means the letter is in the wrong spot but included in the word.
    • Gray is not included in the word.
    • On-screen keyboard queues also appear to help you identify which box does the letter highlight apply in to.
  • After finally guessing the word, the results can be shared with social media buddies /frenemies. Please note that the saved data is based on your local data. If you clear your history/cookies, the stats will reset, just like when you play the game in browser incognito mode.

TIPS IN GUESSING

  • Narrow Down – In your first guess, use 5 letter words with different letters and avoid repetition. The goal is to narrow down your choices. Do not use X, Q, or Z for the first Guess. Rather, use common letters such as S or T and vowels A, E, I, O, and U.
  • Cover Bases – Try to cover as many letters as possible in 1st and 2nd try. Use all the vowels!
  • Prioritize – Select which box will you focus on but you can change priorities if the situation arises.
  • Do Not Re-use Gray letters – Unlike Wordle, you are solving multiple boxes. Make sure to not use Gray-ed letters for that specific box.
  • Double Letters – Double letters are possible which might also be confusing and generally a waste of turns for turn 1 to 4/earlier tries. Use them wisely.

That’s it. Wordle Hard Mode. Quordle!
